Learn to Kitesurf with Zumosurf

Zumosurf are now running professional kitesurf lessons and we are teaching everday. Our instructors are BKSA Approved and are well experienced in teaching the sport of kitesurfing in a interesting and safe manner. Our chief instructor, Gary Duff has over 8 years experience teaching the sport of kitesurfing and is a senior IKO and BKSA instructor as well as being one of the first people in Ireland to take up the sport of kitesurfing.

All equipment is supplied during lessons.

Starting on land using trainer kites, you will learn the basics of controlling a power kite, you will then progress onto the water where we will instruct you on the use of larger more powerful inflated water re-launchable kites. Then onto body dragging, this is where you use the kites full power to pull you through the water. Kite safety systems and self rescue, how to rig your kite 2 and 4 line are all included in the course. Next up is body dragging through the water, followed by the first steps to getting onto a kitesurf board.

The courses enables you to proceed with confidence buying and flying your own equipment. You will be given the opportunity to try out different equipment to see what suits your style.
We offer independent advice on kite and board selection, to suit your ability and budget. Discount on equipment given after course from our local shop.

COURSES

1:1 Coaching (per hour) €69.00

available at all levels from complete beginner through to toeside riding, jumps, rotations and waveriding.

Half Day Kitesurfing Taster (3 hours) €99

These are the ideal way to dip your toe in the water to decide if the sport is for you or not. Our Mission is to get you flying a kite straight away and get a feeling of the power and some of the basic skills to be learnt. Most of our emphasis is to introduce you to the wind window and the areas of high and low power the emphasis is definitely on doing the sport rather than being briefed on too much of the technicalities. By the end you should have a really good idea if it is something you want to carry on with.

1 DAY INTRO (6 hours) €189

We go through rigging and launching the kites. We pay particular attention on how the safety systems work and practice activating them. Safe practice in launching and recovery of the kite and awareness of your flying area . Once wet we concentrate on body dragging, basically getting pulled through the water by the kite, this is great for kite control and getting used to the power as well as being a blast. Inevitably you will crash the kite which gives us the opportunity to teach you how to relaunch it. Lots to learn but loads of fun.

2 Day Learn to Kitesurf (12 hours) €379

We normally recap body dragging and flying the kite with one hand a total prerequisite to having any success with the board. Pack down or self rescue is practised, After this it is time to try your first waterstarts and first runs. This is where the fun really starts and the feeling of being pulled out of the water and going along make this a really memorable session for all.

3 Day Learn to Kitesurf (18 hours) €429

The day is dedicated to getting those waterstarts and first runs sorted. We also concentrate hard on making you make the decisions as far as launching, landing etc so it's as much like independent kitesurfing as possible. By the end of the 3 day course students should have reached the minimum level needed to carry on kitesurfing independently. We rate developing your independent and safe kite flying as highly as how far you get to ride the board.
